Transforming Foundation Industries Future Leaders, Sustainability and Circular Economy Webinar
Net-zero Manufacturing – More than the factory gates
Dr. Russ Hall CEng MIMechE
Warwick Manufacturing Group

Russ has a background as a mechanical engineer, he has worked in companies of every size, prior to working in academia his work was focused in the energy (oil and gas, nuclear) and foundation industries (primarily steelmaking). Russ now works at Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) and is responsible for development and delivery of WMG’s circular economy and sustainable manufacturing strategy. WMG’s purpose is to support UK manufacturing, helping it achieve it’s goals through the transfer of knowledge, development of capability and delivery of sector / application specific research.
Russ’s talk will consider how manufacturers can move to net-zero by considering their entire supply chains, where the major emission sources are how these can be reduced through the use of reuse, remanufacture and dedicated recycling processes. The talk will emphasise that emission reduction for manufacturers is bigger than processes alone, that a holistic systems thinking approach is required for true emission reduction and how collaboration of suppliers and manufacturers will be key if industry is really going to achieve net-zero.
